Living on the Road II
Part II – Interview with Steve, a homeless man
Steve’s story prompted several reminders:
- I can wish for things to be different but I have to make the effort if my life is going to be what I hope it will be.
- I can live in the excuses or I can give my energy toward overcoming the challenges that inhibit me.
- I can’t choose every life situation I face but I can choose to respond with a good attitude.
- My decisions lead to consequences which are influenced by how well I control my passions.
- I can live my life being skeptical of others or I can look for the best in others and appreciate the little blessings that come.
There is a lot to be thankful for:
Listening to Steve share his hopes, struggles, and how he has been blessed, led me to consider how I have been blessed. There is so much for which to be thankful.
I am thankful for:
- A mom who spent many late nights on her knees praying for God to have mercy on me. I would not be where I am today without God’s mercy. – Thank you Mom
- A wife and children who bring joy to my heart as they give their lives to serving God and helping others. – Thank you Karen, Maddie and Mason
- A place to work where I have the opportunity to help people find God and then grow in their understanding of Jesus Christ. – Thank you Oak Hills Church
- A place to call home where there is food to eat, a warm bed, and a hot shower. – Thank you God
All of the things listed above are easy to take for granted instead of recognizing them for what they are – gifts from God. Thank you God.

Thank you God….. and thank you Gerry for reminding us that we sometimes take the simplest things for granted.
Thanks for sharing Tim. It’s good to be thanking Him together.
