About

Gerry TrueLife has not been short on providential moments.  Each one has been marked by loads of grace and truckloads of mercy. One such moment began with a call from my wife exclaiming, “You have got to work at this church!” She had just left Sunday morning worship while I was on military duty. I listened but questioned, “Do you realize how many people would like to work at that church?  I am sure the line is long!”  Her reply, “You never know?” Less than a year later I was serving on that church’s ministry staff.

After serving for eight years at Second Baptist Church in Springfield, Missouri, my wife and I began to sense that God was preparing us for a new ministry. I became aware of a church in San Antonio that was searching for a Minister of Technology and Communication and soon had my first phone interview. We hadn’t informed anyone since the talks were so preliminary, yet two days later my wife received a call from her sister who was visiting a church in San Antonio, Texas. My sister-in-law proceeded to inform my wife that they had just attended a great church and that, “Gerry has got to work at this church!” Less than six months later our family made the move from Missouri to Texas, and I joined the staff at Oak Hills Church. A lot has changed over the past three years including Randy Frazee and Max Lucado teaming up to lead Oak Hills Church in reaching out to San Antonio. My role has also changed. I now serve as the Minister of Communication Arts leading four teams; Worship Arts, Production Arts, Creative Arts, and Technical Arts.

The past 10 years have been filled with lessons on life, faith, family and leadership. God has proven himself faithful when needs demanded more than my skills could provide. He has continually brought the right people with the right solution at the right time. My greatest satisfaction has been watching God use ordinary people to do extraordinary things.

The past couple of years have been among the most privileged of my life as I’ve served alongside some of the greatest people I have ever met. They are creative, passionate and give their best in all they do. I look forward to sharing the journey God is taking us on as we experience more of His providence and more moments through which He makes himself famous. Together, we are imagining what could be…
